Gary A. Hyde, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 350 27th Ave. SW,
Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. March 18 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Private inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Gary Alan Hyde was born May 15, 1941, in Wadena, Iowa, to his parents, LaVerne C. and Dawn A. (Swale) Hyde. He married Glenda Wedo on Feb. 19, 1961, in Elgin, Iowa. He worked for FMC for 23 years, then was co-owner of the Palo Mini-Mart for 24 years, retiring in 2007.
Gary was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge No. 304/515, was involved in the Foundation at Asbury United Methodist Church and the FMC Retirees Club, all in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda; his children, Connie (Mike) Trosky of Cedar Rapids and Becky (Jim) Hood of Palo; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Frana, Matthew (Katie) Trosky and Nicholas Andersen; three great-grandchildren, Kael and Taylor Frana and Tysenn Trosky; one sister, Gloria (Duane) Barker; and his beloved dogs, Ziggy and Crosby.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Carolyn.
Gary loved to visit with people of all ages, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his many friends. He and Glenda took many wonderful vacations together over the years and always enjoyed their yearly Minnesota fishing trips.
