Hardy-Zbornik, Betty Jane
Betty Jane Hardy-Zbornik, 92, of Marion, died, with her daughters at her side, on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home. Graveside Committal: 3 p.m. Thursday at Lima Cemetery, Fayette.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna Krouse of Louisville, Ky., Judy Orton of Fairfax, Deanna (Mike) Riley of Orlando, Fla. and Peggy (Keith) Patters of Marion; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; four brothers, Charles Jr., Jack, Joe and Jimmy Ritchie; son-in-law, Larry Krouse; and two grandsons, Zachery Samek and Perry Brown.
Betty was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Daisy (Flanagan) Ritchie. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1937. Betty married Raymond “Paul” Hardy on Aug. 27, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. Paul died Nov. 29, 1975. Betty then married Theodore Marcus “Mark” Zbornik, who died Dec. 29, 1986.
Betty was a mother and homemaker, and had also worked at the Relina Shirt Factory, Quaker Oats, and Collins Radio.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Betty's memory.
