Donald Earl Vosseller, 79, of Marion, formerly of Waverly, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at his home in Marion from complications of cancer.
Don was born April 19, 1935, in Waverly, Iowa, the
son of Earl Sandford Vosseller and Edith Elizabeth Holmes. Don was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church in Waverly, now known as Trinity United Methodist Church. Don attended the Waverly school system, graduating from Waverly High School in 1953. Following his schooling, Don became engaged in farming. On Oct. 19, 1957, Don was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Hove at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Waverly and Don continued to farm. While living in Waverly, Don's family attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
In 1975, the couple moved to Marion, where Don became part owner of ReVosWel Homes building materials from 1975 until his retirement in 1997.
Don really enjoyed his winter home in Palmetto Palms RV Resort in Fort Myers. Since 1997, he and Sandy looked forward to heading south for six months, November to April. Don loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Sandy of Marion; his three daughters, Diane Vosseller and her partner, Lori Charette, of Edgewood, N.M., Deborah (Brian) Merfeld of Marion, and Denise Vosseller and her partner, Marty Andersen, of Cedar Rapids; his three grandchildren, Rebecca Beadle of Austin, Texas, Rachel Beadle and John Jackson of Marion; four grandsons, Keith and Kevin Reed of New Mexico, Brandon and Jake Merfeld of Marion; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Edna Mae Corson of Waverly; and his sister and brother-in-law, Jo (Gary) Dike of Grants, N.M.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edith Vosseller, and a brother-in-law, James R. Corson.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly, with Pastor Deborah Coble-Wise from Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Public visitation will be Monday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3855 Katz Dr., Marion. A second visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, 218 Second St. SE, Waverly.
Memorials may be directed to the family, where a memorial direction will be established at a later date.
