Pierce, Geraldine F. 'Gerri'

Geraldine F. “Gerri” Pierce, 79, of 210 First Ave. East, Cascade, died 5:13 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services in Dubuque. Friends and relatives of Gerri may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Services for Gerri will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade.

She was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Hopkinton, Iowa, daughter of Donald and Evelyn (Supple) Lewis. On June 20, 1970, she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Pierce in Cascade.

Gerri was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Gerri dearly enjoyed being with her Bingo friends and acquaintances.

She was a member of St. Peters Parish in Temple Hill and Catholic Daughters of the Americas-Our Blessed Mother Court 1926.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Pierce of Cascade; two sons, Donnie (Rosie) Topping of Onslow and Denny (Rose) Topping of Dubuque; one daughter-in-law, Joanie Topping of Cascade; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenny Lewis, Maynard Lewis and Terry (Linda) Lewis, all of Monticello; two sisters, JoAnn Egger of Monticello and Donna (Steve) Koob of Monticello; a brother-in-law, Carl Merfeld of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Thomas Topping on Jan. 4, 2009; a stepson, Scott Pierce; two sisters, Mary Gudenkauf and Peggy Merfeld; and two brothers-in-law, Ron Egger and Carl Gudenkauf.
