Esther was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ludwina (Burkle) Recker. She was united in marriage to John Reichenauer on Sept. 27, 1949, in Dyersville. To this union three children were born. Esther and John raised their family on the farm where they provided for all their family's needs. She always grew a garden and especially enjoyed her flowers. She provided delicious meals, and of special note was her tender roast beef, pies and cookies. Most of all, she loved her family and lit up whenever she saw her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Esther was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society in Prairieburg while on the farm and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Esther and John enjoyed serving donuts at the Scared Heart parish hall.
