Dennis J. Lueck, 76, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Church of the Nativity, Dubuque, with Msgr. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd., Dubuque, Iowa, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
Dennis was born on Dec. 24, 1940, in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Marie (Ferring) Lueck. He graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary in Fond du Lac, Wis., in 1959. Dennis studied business at Loras College in Dubuque and graduated in 1964. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard for six years.
He worked at John Deere for 26 years, retiring in 1992. He then went to work at American Trust and Savings Bank in Dubuque for over 24 years.
Dennis married Patricia Marie Davis in September of 1965. Together they had a son, Sean, of Houston, Texas. He later married Sandra Caroline Follman in February of 1976. Through that marriage, he gained a son, Jeffrey, and together they had a daughter, Lindsay.
Dennis enjoyed playing sports in his youth. He enjoyed attending farm auctions and helping his brother on the family farm, and especially was helpful with any needed equipment repairs. Dennis always had a smile on his face. He was known to be an avid and skilled euchre player. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends and family, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Sean Lueck, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Lindsay (Brad) Temple of Frisco, Texas; his grandson, Jordan (Alyssa) Lueck of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Anna and Sylvie Temple of Frisco, Texas; siblings, Lillian (Merlin) Jasper, Marian (David) Brunkan and Mary Jane (Charles) Boerner; brother-in-law, Dale Bartels; and many nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandy; his first wife, Pat; his son, Jeffrey Loney; sister, Helen Witte Bartels; brother, David Lueck; and brother-in-law, John Witte.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rambadran and the doctors, nurses and staff of Mercy Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to Dennis.
