Belle Plaine
Dean Harold McLeod, 84, of Belle Plaine, passed away April 1, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: Sunday, April 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Monday, April 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church by Pastor Dean Duncan. Burial follows the service at Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites by the Belle Plaine Legion.
Dean was born Jan. 13, 1931, to Eugene and Hazel (Beck) McLeod. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1949 and married Eleanor Chekal on June 17, 1951. He served in the Korean War for two years. He drove for various companies before buying his own trucking business in 1972.
Dean is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son, Mike McLeod; daughter, Cindy (Steve) Hemm; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law and brother, Howard.
