Lynne Strabala, 80, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 3 p.m. and a rosary at 6:30 p.m. by the Fourth Degree. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Lynne was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Riverside, Iowa, the son of Omer and Martha (Joebgen) Strabala. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Riverside. Lynne served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Mary Anne Pusateri on Oct. 1, 1960. Lynne worked as a test technician for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Discovery Living board and Knights of Columbus Council 5390, where he was a Fourth Degree member. He volunteered at many organizations.
Lynne is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Anne; two daughters, Martha (Pete) Schommer and Eileen (Lester) Strabala-Backus, both of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Jeff (Janette) Strabala of Streator, Ill., and Chris (Jackie) Strabala of Auburn, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Charles, Wayne (Connie), Tom (Julia) and Mike (Connie) Strabala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Lynne Strabala; and three sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Discovery Living or a charity of the donor's choice.
