WANDA RAE BAETSLE Victor Wanda Rae Baetsle, 72, of Woodward, formerly of Victor, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at her son's home in Woodward with family by her side. A graveside service has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Calvary Cemetery in Victor with the Rev. Cory Close of St. Bridget Church in Victor officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 18, at Smith Funeral Home in Victor, from 5 to 7 p.m. with the family present. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Wanda's family at www.smithfh.com. Wanda Rae Baetsle was born April 9, 1946, in Charles City, Iowa, to Harold and Arlene (Kostka) Baethke. She was raised in Victor and attended school at St. John's Lutheran School in Guernsey and then HLV in Victor. In 1962, she married William Baetsle in Las Vegas. Wanda loved game shows, especially "The Price is Right" with Drew Carey. She grew up on the farm milking cows by hand. Wanda loved to play cards with anyone who would play with her. She liked to travel and socialize with others and loved her beer. Wanda worked at Amana for 26 years as a forklift driver as the very first woman in the warehouse. Wanda is survived by her four children, Bill (Keri) Baetsle of Woodward, Michael (Angie) Baetsle of Hedrick, Diane (Shawn) Quick of Sedalia, Mo., and Julie Baetsle of Cedar Rapids; her six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loys Baethke of Belle Plaine. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; and her brother, Gordon Baethke.
