Yonkovic, Greg R. 'Yonk'
Greg R. “Yonk” Yonkovic, 46, went to meet his Lord and Savior Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, in his Mechanicsville home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon, by the Rev. Barbara Krueger. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Surviving Greg are his wife, Barb of Mechanicsville; two sons, Dylan and Logan; a daughter, Cheyenne, all of Mechanicsville; his parents, Raymond and Karen McQuown Yonkovic of Lisbon; three sisters, Valerie and Veronica, both of Marion, and Kelli of Lisbon; and his mother-in-law, Judy Parker (Steve Kohl) of Lisbon.
Preceding Greg in death were his grandparents, Roy and Lucille Yonkovic and James and Roeine McQuown.
Greg was born Sept. 5, 1967, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1985. Greg worked for D and R Masonry of Lisbon. He married Barbara Parker May 26, 1990, in Mount Vernon. For over 21 years he worked for Schimberg Company of Cedar Rapids.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Greg was known for his gift of gab and had many friends to prove it. He was always ready to greet someone with a smile and a cold beer. Greg was a loving husband and wonderful father of three children and many four-legged children, Norman and Lola and especially his old hunting buddy, Chet. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all of his family and friends.
A memorial fund in Greg's honor has been established.
