Darrell E. Brown, 96, formerly of West Branch, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center. Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral home.

Darrell was born July 22, 1918, at West Liberty,
Iowa, the son of Louis N. and Audrey Foster Brown. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1936. On Sept. 3, 1939, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Kennedy, for nearly 40 years. He later married Hilda Carey on May 25, 1980.
Darrell was a lifelong area farmer. He was active in soil conservation and was past chairman and three-term member of Cedar County Soil Conservation Committee. He was a three-term member and past president of the West Branch Board of Education, 50-year member of the Farm Bureau, volunteer driver and past board member and helper at Tipton Senior Center, past West Branch Lions Club member and was currently a member of Tipton Lions Club, since 1980. He was also an active member of West Branch Methodist Church and most recently Tipton United Church of Christ.
He is survived by two children, Beverly Brown and Keith (Jolene) Brown, all of West Branch; two granddaughters, Callista (Geoff) Isabelle of Allentown, Pa., and Miranda (Joseph) Mizelle of Fairfield; as well as two great-grandchildren, Noah and Aiden Mizelle; and a sister, Janet Eden, living in Texa.
A brother, Roger Brown, preceded him in death.
