JULIE ANN (ALDEN) MEINEKE
Monticello
Julie Ann (Alden) Meineke, 55, of Monticello, passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at First Presbyterian Church, Monticello. The Rev. Emory Gillespie will officiate at the services.
Julie was born Aug. 12, 1962, to Jerald and Helen (Potter) Alden. She was the fifth of seven children. She graduated from Midland High School in 1981. She worked for Polo Plastics in Monticello for many years and went on to work at various other places before earning her CNA. She worked at the Anamosa Care Center for 14 years.
Julie married Duane Meineke on March 28, 1987. They were married 18 years and had two children together. Julie was caring and hardworking. She had a big heart and a smile that could brighten an entire room. Julie loved animals, especially dogs and her cat, Cookie. She also loved reading, horseback riding, listening to classic rock and spending time with her family.
Julie is survived by her son, Nicholas Meineke of Monticello; her daughter, Sarah Bracht-Wagner of Mason City; mother, Helen Alden of Monticello; brother, John Alden of Lost Nation; brother, Joe Alden of Monticello; sister, Jamie (Dave) Soper of Wyoming; sister, Cheryl (Russ) Recker of Alburnett; and several nieces and nephews.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Jerald Alden; brother, Charles Alden; and sister, Junella Lange.
