Rosemary H. Goldsmith, 91, of Monticello, died Monday, Oct., 24, 2016, at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, where a parish rosary will be held at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate.
Rosemary was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Amelia (Knebel) Schnoebelen. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids. She married Everett Frimml on Sept. 11, 1945. Together they farmed near Norway, Anamosa and Monticello, until he preceded her in death in 1975. She married Glenn Goldsmith on Sept. 17, 1982, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello. She worked at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crafting and cooking. She loved the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Judy (Bill) Dietiker of Anamosa and Randy (Kris) Frimml and Deb (Mark) Merfeld, both of Monticello; six stepchildren, Marv (Pat) Goldsmith of Lexington, Neb., Sue (Stan) Burrichter of Monticello, Glenda (Don) Eilers of Scotch Grove, Ed (Connie) Goldsmith of Monticello, Kathy (Al) Wulfekuhle of Masonville and Carol (Brian) Manternach of Coralville; 12 grandchildren, Aimee (Zeferino) Sosa, Jennifer (Andrew) Eley, Brian (Tara) Dietiker, Nicole (Richard) Camp, Jamie (Mickey) Foster, Kalli Frimml, Tiffany (Shawn) Nolan, Travis (Chelsea) Johnson, Brandi (Heath) Keenlance, Melissa (Chris) Hanewicz, Emily (Damien) Claypool and Grant Golden; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Fear, of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters-in-law, Edith Schnoebelen of Cedar Rapids and Margaret Frimml of Tama.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Frimml, in 1975; her second husband, Glenn Goldsmith; a daughter, Denise Golden; three brothers, Norman (Dolores) Schnoebelen, Father Kenneth Schnoebelen and Clayton Schnoebelen; a sister, Joan (Lawrence) Nekola; and a great-grandson, Matthew Keenlance.
