Lawrence, Cyril
Cyril Lawrence, 57, of Monticello, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg. Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a parish vigil service at 4 p.m.
Surviving are nine siblings and a sister-in-law, Martina (Chuck) Siek, Blairstown, Loras (Marilyn), Monticello, Marcus (Mary), Marion, Clement (Kay), Monticello, Kathleen (John) Faurote, Cedar Rapids, Denise Lawrence, Monticello, Cletus (Linda), Central City, Joann (Jack) Carrothers, Colfax, Mariann (Glen) Holliday, Dahlgren, Va., and Clair, Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, C.W. Claret.
Cyril Lawrence was born April 22, 1953, in Boulder Township, Linn County, Iowa, the son of Wesley George and Tracey Clara (Marek) Lawrence. He received his education in the Monticello Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1971. Cyril farmed on the family farm and was employed at Nagel Grain in Prairieburg. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
