Leytem, Josephine 'JoAnn'
Josephine “JoAnn” Leytem, 83, of Marion, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Monticello. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Steve (Donna) Leytem of Monticello; daughter, Lori Leytem of Springfield, Ill.; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Matthew Leytem of Monticello; and great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Marie.
Also surviving is her extended family, Linda and her daughter, Haley; Karen, Stan, Kelly and their spouses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Larry;” her parents; and her brother, Emil.
JoAnn was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Anna (Carr) Schneider. She married Lawrence “Larry” Leytem on Feb. 18, 1947, in Monticello. JoAnn worked as an LPN at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello and went on to work for Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all.
