Null, Eloise C.
Eloise C. Null, 85, of Scotch Grove, died Friday evening, Jan. 27, 2012, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 11 Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Reed Stockman will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Surviving are three children, Sara (Marc) Bradley and Jayne (Steve) Intlekofer, both of Monticello, and John (Nanci) Null, Scotch Grove; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bert Harms, Iowa City; and a brother, LaVern (Ann Marie) Plueger, Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl in 2005; a sister, Esther Siebels; and two brothers, Raymond and Ervin Plueger.
Eloise Catherine Plueger was born June 23, 1926, at Scotch Grove, Iowa, the daughter of William and Margaret (Doden) Plueger. She received her education in the Slough School near Scotch Grove. During World War II, Eloise and her sister Esther operated their brothers garage and tavern while they were in service. She later worked at Hoag Duster factory and the Dime Store in Monticello. Eloise Plueger and Earl J. Null were married Jan. 12, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. The couple lived in Monticello for a brief time. In 1953, they moved to Scotch Grove, where they started and operated Null's Station. Eloise also worked at Balsters Grocery Store and for 15 years worked at the Scotch Grove Nursery before she retired.
Eloise was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. When her children were small she served as a 4 H leader and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.
