Milroy, Dean
Dean Milroy, 89, of Monticello, died Wednesday evening, March 10, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10 Tuesday morning, March 16, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 4 until 8 Monday afternoon.
Surviving are two children, Richard (Joyce) Milroy and Nancy Eiben, both of Monticello; a sister, Iola Berringer, Anamosa; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Cassie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeraldine; a daughter, Linda Willard; a grandson, Scott; and his sister, Fern Shaw.
Arthur Dean Milroy was born July 24, 1920, at Monticello, Iowa, and graduated from the Monticello Community Schools in 1937. Dean Milroy and Jeraldine Appleby were married July 24, 1945, at St. Luke's Methodist Church. Dean started working at Franklin Equipment in Monticello and worked two years at the Citi Service Gas Station during a layoff. Dean was employed for a total of 42 years at Franklin Equipment in Monticello, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
