Dreibelbis, Ruth
Ruth Dreibelbis, 89, of Monticello, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services. Arrangements are with Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Ruth is survived by a sister, Phyllis (Robert) Sutthoff, Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Marvin (Donna) Schneider, Monticello, and Carroll Schneider, Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don in 1993; three sisters, Bernice Meier, Edna Conley and Erma Townsley; and five brothers, Loren, Louis, Kenneth, Robert and Phillip.
Ruth K. Schneider was born April 19, 1922, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Isaac H. and Matilda (Egger) Schneider. Ruth received her education at Bowens Prairie School and Monticello Community Schools. She was employed at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa for several years. Ruth K. Schneider and Donald Dreibelbis were married Aug. 10, 1941, in Joplin, Mo. The couple farmed on the Dreibelbis family farm near Center Junction and Ruth was the bookkeeper at the Center Junction Lumber Yard. They moved to Monticello in 1955. Ruth then worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and later at Pam's Style Shop in Monticello.
Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, and the Pie Committee. She had been active as a Camp Fire leader, also in the Federated Garden Club and the Monticello Golf Club.
Ruth and Don loved to go dancing and play golf. She was also very active in the lives and activities of her nieces and nephews.
