Mary Jane (Janey) Freese, 90, of Monticello, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Kramer Funeral Home in Mont-icello, where a parish Scripture service will be at 3 p.m. Friends may continue to call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate.
Mary Jane was born April 1, 1924, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Clare and Margaret (Buol) Aitchison. On July 30, 1950, she married Louis Tobe Freese in Monticello. Mary Jane graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1941. She attended Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. She worked as a lab technician in Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Evanston, Ill., and returned to Monticello to work at John McDonald Hospital.
She dedicated her life to her family and church activities. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Study Club. Mary Jane was an avid bridge player and loved to travel. She enjoyed following her children and grand-children's various activities.
Mary Jane was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Lakers and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors include her four children, Aimee (Steve) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Janet (Glen) Dallman of Bradenton, Fla., Brad (Dana) Freese of Monticello and Valerie (Terrance) Mennen of Birmingham, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Husmann of Clinton; and a sister-in-law, Ann Aitchison of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, William Aitchison.
