Starr Jean Porter, 65, of Monticello, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m Thursday, Dec. 13, at Kramer Funeral Home, 700 Oak St., in Monticello.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, with interment at Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
Starr was born Dec. 21, 1952, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Ommen) Wroblewski. She married Dan Porter on Dec. 1, 1973, and recently celebrated 45 years of love and happiness. Starr taught at Head Start in Monticello and Anamosa and spent most of her life teaching and raising children. She was an avid football fan, especially the Bears and Hawkeyes.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; three children, Troy (Christine) Porter, of Viroqua, Wis., Brian Porter and Sara Porter, both of Monticello; six grandchildren, Haley (Kevin) Whittaker, Madelynne, Cammile Porter and Emma, Lily and Chloe Porter; one brother, David (Cindy) Wroblewski of Cedar Rapids; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Porter of Hopkinton, David Porter and Daryl (Deb) Porter, both of Monticello; one sister-in-law, Shirley Porter of Monticello; and her aunt, Helen Dirks of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Dorance and Velma Porter; brother, Steve Wroblewski; and brother-in-law, Milton Porter.
