She married Gilbert L. Hearn on Sept. 16, 1953, at St. Matthew Lutheran in Monticello, where she was a lifelong member, having also been baptized and confirmed. When Gilbert's father, Paul, passed away in 1956, Gilbert and Lois bought the family business, Hearn Oil and Tire, and operated it until 1996. After retirement, Lois helped Gilbert run his real estate business, R Realty.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Roger (Shirley) Hearn of Monticello; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gilbert; daughter, Wendy Sue; and two sisters, Mabel Oltmann, and an infant sister, Hattie.
Lois was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR. Lois and Gilbert loved to travel and especially enjoyed going to Germany to where Gilbert was stationed in the Army. She loved dogs and always had a companion by her while she was at home.
The family of Lois wishes to thank the staff at Monticello Nursing and Rehab and Above and Beyond Hospice for its loving care during her last days.
