MARY HASLER
Monticello
Mary Hasler, 89, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at United Church of Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Edwin Moreano will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for Mary and her services.

Mary Elizabeth Peters was born April 21, 1926, in Lovell Township, Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Anna Mardorf Peters. She attended Monticello Schools and then worked at Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. Later in life, she graduated from Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa at age 70.
Mary and Peter R. Hasler were married Dec. 7, 1951, in Monticello. They farmed near Monticello for many years. Mary raised chickens on the farm and sold the eggs to Monty Produce. Mary was a faithful member of United Church of Monticello. She enjoyed art, reading and the book club at Monticello Public Library.
Mary is survived by her children, Nancy (Doug) Streeper, Solon, and Peter D. Hasler and daughter-in-law, Deanne Hasler, both of Monticello; her grandchildren, Jeff (Shelli) Streeper, Brian (Amanda) Streeper, Jason (Jen) Hasler, Jamie (friend Nick) Hasler and Mark (friend Katie) Hasler; and great-grandchildren, Azaleah and Vienna Streeper, August, Ivy, Sutton Streeper and Scarlett Hasler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Paul; and two brothers, Carl and Marvin.
