Peggy Carlson, 68, of Springville, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her cherished husband, Edd Jr.; daughter, Nikki Schmitz; brothers, Dennis, David and Doug Convey; sisters, Janis (Ernie) King and Nancy (Tony) Koopman; her grandson, Nick Megan Schmitz; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Haydyn Schmitz; several close friends; beloved cat for nearly 18 years, Maxsi; and many extended family members.
Margaret Ellen Carlson was born Sept. 9, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, to James and Ione (Seltrecht) Convey. Peggy was a young single mother who worked very hard to raise and provide for her family. Peggy was a hard worker. She worked as an administrator for Kirkwood Community College for 25 years and did cleaning jobs on the side. She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzle, was an avid reader and enjoyed nature, especially birds and both indoor and outdoor gardening. She was a loyal, kind-hearted caregiver, always caring for her husband, family, friends, cat, plants and household. Though direct at times, she was very respectful and an amazing friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
