Stacey Walker is a fearless leader

I'm voting for Stacey Walker in the District 1 Democratic primary for Linn County Board of Supervisors.

After being elected two years ago, Walker could have sat back and followed the lead of the other supervisors. Instead, he did his research and led on important issues. He has not been afraid to stand up on sensitive issues when the easier route would be to sit back and do nothing. I'm sure this is why his Democratic colleagues on the board have all endorsed Walker over his opponent.

When other elected leaders were ignoring issues of systemic poverty and youth gun violence, Walker spearheaded the Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities Task Force (SET). Walker and the SET Task Force have worked hard in a collaborative effort to investigate the root causes of many complex issues. The Gazette has endorsed the objectives of SET.

His opponent voted against SET funding. Recently, a school board member suggested tabling SET funding until after the election, because SET isn't a priority for Walker's opponent.

The problem of gun violence will not go away if Walker isn't re-elected; however, some elected officials prefer to go back to pretending we don't have a gun violence problem. Doing nothing is not a solution! Our community deserves better, our community deserves Walker on the Linn County Board of Supervisors.
