Emrieanne (Usher) Ealy, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, joined her husband, son and the Lord on Sunday morning, May 31, 2015, at Higley Mansion surrounded by her children. A memorial gathering will be held at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Wednesday, June 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place at 6:30 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Emrieanne is survived by her children, Kyle Ealy (Sarah Jane Wick) and Karin Ealy (Glenn Kieler) of Cedar Rapids and Greg (Kathy) Knotts of Beach City, Texas; grandchildren, Corey (Amy) Ealy of Cedar Rapids, Casey (Emily) Ealy of Cedar Rapids, Kendy (Nick) Hindahl of Muscatine, Iowa, Michael (Amanda) Kennington of Dayton, Texas, Ryan (Christan) Kennington of Porter, Texas, Alan Knotts and Austin Knotts of Beach City, Texas, Carol (Ryan) Zieser of Walker, Iowa, Dawn (Peter) Brue of Huxley, Iowa, Rachel Spencer of Cedar Rapids, Marcy Kieler of Cedar Rapids and Mike Kieler; and she was blessed with 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Ealy; son, Kevin M. Ealy; parents, Charles E. and Gladys Usher of Clearwater, Fla.; brother, James E. Usher of Dunedin, Fla.; and her pets.
Emrieanne was born June 8, 1935, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids to Charles Edward and Gladys (Hansen) Usher. She attended Harrison Elementary and Roosevelt High School. She also took interior design and psychology classes at Kirkwood Community College as an adult.
Emrieanne was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1968, a member of the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary since 1974 and a member of Cedar Rapids Homebuilders Association since 1990.
Before her retirement,, she was employed at St. Luke's Hospital Flower Stall for 25 years, first as a volunteer, then as assistant manager and manager. She later worked part-time in the accounting department at Shelton Technologies in Hiawatha, Iowa.
She was an avid reader and started each day with two cups of coffee and the daily crossword puzzle. She loved sewing, shopping at flea markets, traveling and collecting antiques. She enjoyed dancing with her husband and watching musicals.
Emrieanne's love for music, her creativity and her passion for helping people were all passed onto her children and grandchildren. She was dependable and trustworthy and had a solution for every problem. Her talent, generosity, knowledge and hugs will be greatly missed by everyone. She had a heart that embraced all people with boundless unconditional love. She was the best wife, mother, grandma, mama and friend in the world.
