Darrel L. Andre, 82, of Marion, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m.Friday at First United Methodist Church in Marion. The Rev. Vicki Standley will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, and at the church after 9 a.m. on Friday.
Survivors include a daughter, Renee (Ron) Valenta of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Darin of Cedar Rapids and Jeffrey of Tucson, Ariz.; and his grandson, Trenton of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Bertha; his wife, Elaine; his son, Kevin; and his sister, Darlene.
Darrel was born Oct. 27, 1935, on the family farm in Mechanicsville, Iowa. Darrel was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran staff sergeant. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 34 years. Darrel had a deep passion for flying. His greatest joy in life was his family.
