Darroll C. Syferd, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Cheryl Schneider of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Jason J. (Julie) Nosek of Mount Vernon and Rebecca J. Nosek (John) of Cedar Rapids; his brothers, Gerald Dwight (Twila) Syferd of Corydon and Merlin Dean (Marilyn) Syferd of New York; his great-grandchildren, Keenen Nosek, Aidan and Brody Nosek and Pierce McCrary; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cleo; daughter, Karen Trimpe; his brothers, Leland R. Syferd and Harold D. Syferd; his sisters, Twila O. Couchman, Doris A. Salazar and Deloris N. Syferd; and a great-grandchild, Liam Nosek.
Darroll was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Allertown, Iowa, the son of Leland and Aletha (Johnston) Syferd. He married Cleo Plummer on June 20, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Darroll was an engineer lab tech for Square D Co. in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the Elks and Moose Club in Cedar Rapids. Darroll enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping and fishing in Canada. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
