Holub, LaVerne F.
LaVerne F. Holub, 74, of Amana, passed away Nov. 20, 2012, at home. Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Dr. Brian S. Saunders officiating.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Gerda; his children, Terry Holub, Marta (Brian) Philiph, Cheryl Holub, Douglas (Brenda) Holub, Kim (Mark) McIntosh, Kathy (Bruce) Burke and Kully (Lisa) Kinzenbaw; his grandchildren, Joshua Holub, Jessica (Jeff Hupfeld) Holub, Garrett Lehr, Tanner Lehr, Austin Lehr, Kaylee Holub, Shelly (Joseph) Koehn, Shayna (Nick) Janda, Jakob Kinzenbaw, Sara Rose Kinzenbaw and Mack (Felicia) Willits; great-grandson, Evan Koehn; and his sister, Darlene Wichman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Victor Holub; two brothers, Roy Holub and Eugene Holub; and his sister, Regina Rickels.
LaVerne was born March 2, 1938, in Coggon, Iowa. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and received the Air Force Commendation Medal. He married Sandra Marta in 1960. He later married Gerda Holub (Kinzenbaw), his best friend and loving wife.
LaVerne was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR. He also enjoyed collecting antiques.
Above all, he loved his family and will be dearly missed by his wife and the entire family.
