Crumes, Avis A.
Avis A. Crumes, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died in her home Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; daughter, Shelley Crumes; brothers, Ron (Pat) Landtiser of Cedar Rapids, Geary (Teri) Landtiser of Portland, Ore., James (Gaye) Landtiser of Ottumwa and Gerald Landtiser of Ottumwa; sister-in-law, Donna Landtiser of Portland, Ore.; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Blair E. Burke; brothers, Gilbert Landtiser and Faris Landtiser; sister-in-law, Jane Landtiser; and sister, Sue Ottoboni.
Born June 19, 1936, in Livonia, Mo., Avis was the daughter of Birney and Seryice (Snediger) Landtiser. She attended Ottumwa High School. On Aug. 8, 1962, Avis was united in marriage to Paul Crumes in Missouri. She worked in restaurants in the Ottumwa area before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1964. She then worked for Farmstead for 19 years until their closing, the Cedar Rapids Public schools in the cafeteria and Kenwood Storage.
Avis's joys were bowling, going to the casinos and growing flowers. She collected snowmen and Emmett Kelly figurines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Avis's memory.
