Elgas, Lloyd Thomas
Lloyd Thomas Elgas, 85, of Liberty, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Ashton Court Care Center, Liberty. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include a special friend, Doris Smith of Cedar Rapids; children, Thomas and wife Cheryl of The Villages, Fla., Charles of Cedar Rapids, and Debby Costanza of Liberty, Mo.; a sister, Mary Metge (husband, Gene) of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dena Mae Anderson Elgas; and a brother, William F Elgas.
Lloyd was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Bernard and Anastasia (Burke) Elgas. He served two years in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He married Dena Mae Anderson on April 8 1947. He worked for Bakers Shoe Store for 42 years downtown and Westdale Mall.
Memorials made be made to St Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
