Tyson, Barbara L.
Barbara L. Tyson, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, August 1, 2011, in her home. Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, August 6, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Julie Goodlett. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Ernest (Rosetta) Tyson Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Sydney Tyson of Chicago, Tamara Tyson of Aliquippa, Pa., Tanieta Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Marilyn Early of Moon Township, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; daughter, Valerie Amos; and brother, Sydney Burke.
Barbara was born August 26, 1927, the daughter of William and Frankie (Prince) Burke in Chicago. On Oct. 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ernest Tyson in Aliquippa, Pa. He died in 1994. A homemaker who enjoyed to crochet, Barbara was a member of the St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
