BERNHARD "BERNIE" WILLIAM EVERTS
Parkersburg
Bernhard "Bernie" William Everts, 87, of Parkersburg, was born the son of William and Wiemina "Minnie" (Miller) Everts on March 28, 1930, on a farm in Grundy County, Iowa. He received his education at Beaver Township No. 8 School near his home. On June 19, 1953, Bernie was united in marriage to Hermina Van Dyk at the First Reformed Church in Aplington. The couple lived on the home farm near Dike, where they farmed. To this union, two children, Bonnie and Dale, were born. In 1975, the couple moved to Fern. Bernie owned and operated Everts Milk Route and also Fern Feed & Supply for the next 30 years. They retired and moved to Parkersburg.
Bernie went to be with his Lord on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at his home in Parkersburg following a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred Everts; and one sister, Grace Wesemann.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Hermina Everts of Parkersburg; one daughter, Bonnie (Terry) Schroeder of Grundy Center; one son, Dale (Sharon) Everts of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, (319) 346-1534, and one hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg or Cedar Valley Hospice.
