Reno Jerome Droll, 89, of Tipton, entered eternal rest Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Friends and family may gather for a time of visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with a public rosary to begin at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with inurnment to conclude at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials in Reno's honor may be directed to Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Reno's life journey began April 5, 1928, in Riverside, Iowa, where he was born to Jerome and Genevieve (Knebel) Droll. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Riverside with the class of 1946. Reno married the love of his life, Monica Jeanne Ryan on Aug. 19, 1950, in Riverside. The couple made their home in Tipton, where they reared their six children.
Reno's employment years were spent working for the Breese Company NAPA Auto Parts from 1948 to 2002. He took one year of leave from Breese's in 1949 and served his country in the U.S. Army. He returned to Tipton and worked for Breese's until his retirement in 2002. Reno was a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Tipton (Paul Harris Fellow). He also was a longtime member of St. Mary's Parish in Tipton in addition to membership to the Tipton Golf and Country Club and the Knights of Columbus (fourth-degree Knight).
Surviving Reno are his wife, Jeanne; and his children, Sue (Dan) Ciucki, Mary Jo (Doug) Grove, Michael (Renee) Droll, Margaret "Peg" Johnson, Stephen Droll and Jane (Babe) Osborn; his sister, Veva (Droll) Jenn; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vern, Ivo and Walter Droll; sisters, Evelyn Schnoebelen and Luella Beranek; and infant sister, Delores.
