Sandra Lee Kent, 72, of Marion, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Certified Celebrant Julie Freese. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the chapel. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Survivors include her sons, Steve (Linda) of Cedar Rapids, Tony of Marion and Ben (Dawn) of Frederick, Colo.; five grandchildren, Spencer, Emily, Noah, Jonathan and Eliana; her sisters, Dee Willson of Boone and Jane Adams of Webster City; as well as many loving extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sandra was born July 27, 1943, in Webster City, Iowa, to Arnold and Phyllis (Lee) Branyord. She was married to Gary Lee Kent of Cedar Rapids for 25 years. They later divorced, but remained dear friends.
Sandra was a homemaker. She volunteered over 2,000 hours of her time with Mercy Medical Center. She had a profound love of reading, a hunger for learning and loved spending time with her family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Manor Care and UnityPoint Hospice.
