Mike Markham, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died at home on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014. Funeral Mass: 1 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 9, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Philip Thompson, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his sons, John Markham of Cedar Rapids, Mike Markham of Manchester and Tony Markham of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter, June Markham of Cedar Rapids; sister, Delia Talty; and four grandchildren.
Mike was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Ireland, the son of Jim and Ellen (O'Loghlin) Markham. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. On Dec. 31, 1956, he married Maureen Burke in Ireland. Mike was a union electrician with Acme Electric. He was a member of IBEW Local 405, St. Pius X Catholic Church and VFW Post 788. Mike enjoyed playing euchre and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maureen; daughter, Anna Marie Markham; and brothers, John and Dennis Markham.
