Police confirm identity of man found dead in bail bonds office as Jonathan Wieseler

IOWA CITY - Iowa City Police on Tuesday confirmed the identity of the man found dead in an Iowa City bail bonds office on Sunday.

Police said the man is Jonathan Wieseler, 34.

A day earlier, Wieseler's friends identified him and said he was a bail bondsman.

An autopsy is being completed by the Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office, and police expect to release the preliminary results on Wednesday, according to a news release.

Iowa City police responded to Lederman Bail Bonds, 518 S. Capitol St., at 11:11 a.m. Sunday after Wieseler's body was found inside. On Monday, police said the man had 'multiple sources of trauma.”

Police have said the case is being investigated as a homicide.

No further details are being released by police at this time, according to the release.
