City Tractor has completed the move into a new company-owned location just east of the I-380 interchange in North Liberty.
The John Deere dealer moved in February to a new 2 1/2 acre location with a distinctive 12,600-square-foot main building and 4,800-square-foot warehouse.
The new City Tractor location has better access than the old location on the perimeter of Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville, Manager and co-owner John Conrads said. It also provides the company with indoor warehouse space and an unusual octagonal show room.
The new location on Penn Court includes five pull-through spaces for trucks and trailers, Conrads said. It will eliminate the need for customers, many of whom pull equipment trailers, to back out.
City Tractor is owned by Conrads and brothers Phil, Warren and Myron Ropp. It had been in Coralville since opening more than seven years ago.
Although John Deere is probably best known for farm equipment, City Tractor specializes in equipment for commercial and residential.
The retailer also sells and services equipment by other manufacturers that customers have requested, including Honda, Stihl, and Ariens.
Conrads said the new larger building was designed with many efficiency and environmental improvements, including a service department ventilation system that recycles heat from exhaust gases and a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-approved containment for handling used motor oil until it is recycled.
