Jones Jr., Charles 'Tom' Tommy
Charles “Tom” Tommy Jones Jr., 50, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday. June 7, 2012. at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, by Chaplain Joseph Kane. Burial: Palo Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron (Aubrey) and Mitchell (Emily) Jones, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Alexis, Kypton and Bentley; three sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Riley, Sharon (Alan) Sullivan and Karen (Robert) Holland; three brothers, Johnny Smith, Ronny (Shellie) Smith and Homer (Vonda) Jones; several nephews and nieces; his former wife, Donele Jones; and his faithful dog, Dillon.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.
Tom was born Aug. 18, 1961, in Baltimore, Md., the son of Charles and Shirley Wakefield Jones. He graduated from Aberdeen Senior High School in 1979 and later married Donele Hoffey. Tom served in the Navy from 1978 to 1986. He was retired from the IT Department of the Yellowbook Co.
Tom loved spending time with his family, friends and being poppa to his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, guns, working with the Boy Scouts, women and cars, and spending hours at his crafts, including stain glass, models, and woodworking.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kim Miller from hospice, Hospice of Mercy, and to Roger and Annette LaCoursiere.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
