Moore, Calvin Seward
Funeral services for Calvin Seward Moore, 93, of Tipton, who died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with Pastor Paul Frederikson officiating. A visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic Lodge service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, following visitation. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Calvin Seward Moore, son of Leonard Lee and Laura Isabelle Heister Hovey Moore, was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Jones County, Iowa. He attended school in Tipton while growing up. Calvin was united in marriage to Ellen Louise Lehr on Dec. 9, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Calvin was a farmer and a member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge No. 24, Rochester and I-Club. Calvin was a life long member of the Methodist Church. He served on the Co-op Board and the Conservation Board.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Ellen Moore of Tipton; daughter, Cheri (Bud) Crisp of Menifee, Calif.; son, Douglas (Donna) Moore of Ellinwood, Kan.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Robert and Patrick Moore of Oklahoma, Dennis Moore of Washington, Barton Miller of Clarence, and Darren Miller of Tipton; 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty McGregor of Lone Tree.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chancy, Doug and Leo Moore; sisters, Galilie Britcher, Neoma Jackson, Myra Nalley, Kathrine Pierce and Valda Barber; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial may be made to the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge No. 24 in memory of Calvin.
