Berdo, Thomas Jefferson 'T.J.'
Thomas Jefferson “T.J.” Berdo, 89, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Halcyon House following a brief illness. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the United Methodist Church in Washington, with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the church. Private family interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements.
He is survived by daughter, Sue Stannard of Cedar Rapids, daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Stone and husband Pat of Snohomish, Wash., son, Tom Berdo and wife Bertie of North Liberty; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Ruth Siemon of Watertown, Conn.
Memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church, Washington Public Library or the Halcyon House Library.
