Armbruster, Lois C.
Lois C. Armbruster, 89, of Riverside, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at her home following a brief illness. Mass of the Resurrection for Lois will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. The Rev. Father Rich Adam will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following the committal service at the cemetery there will be a time of refreshments and fellowship at St. Mary's Parish Center. Visitation for Lois will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary at Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside.
Lois Catherine Strabala was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Richmond, Iowa, the daughter of Wino and Villa (Schmitt) Strabala. On Oct. 3, 1945, Lois was united in marriage to Paul Armbruster at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. Lois was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Riverside. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, discussing politics, cooking for her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Lois will be deeply missed by her three sons, Philip Armbruster of Riverside, Jeff Armbruster and wife Jackie of Riverside and John Armbruster and wife Cindy of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Pauline Malchodi and husband Tom of Coal Valley, Ill., Patricia Armbruster and Connie Armbruster, both of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Connelly of Anamosa, Rita Dull and husband Leo of Oregon and Eileen Armbruster of Iowa City; and her brother, Larry Strabala of Iowa City.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in 2004; a son, Martin; two brothers, Maurice and Jim Strabala; and her sister, Lola.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for Hospice of Muscatine in Lois' name.
