Ceynar, Tom
Tom Ceynar, 70, of Ely, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. today at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Tom is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Jackie (Bernie) Walther of Cedar Rapids, Mark Henderson of Swisher, Renee Henderson of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Angela) of Cedar Rapids, Kraig (Melissa) of Swisher and Kim (Steve) Cole of Marion; grandchildren, Ian, Grayson and Sydney Walther, Caitlin and Dylan Ceynar, Zoe, Elizabeth and Zane Ceynar, Jordan and Nicholaus Cole; brothers, Dave (Pat) Ceynar of Thornton, Colo., Mike (Jeri) Ceynar of Ashdown, Ark., and Ed (Dorothy) Gilette, Wyo.; and sisters, Kathy Ceynar of Cedar Rapids and Suzanne (Tom) Carver of Center Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob Ceynar and Don Ceynar and an infant brother; and sisters, Jean Biley and Dianne Glubka.
Tom was born July 9, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lumir and Georgia (Divis) Ceynar. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Tom married Patricia Henderson on Aug. 11, 1983, in Cedar Rapids. Tom retired as a plumber for A'Hearn Plumbing in August 2001 after 33 years of employment. He enjoyed going to auctions, hunting deer and turkey, fishing, mushrooming, roadhunting for asparagus, spending time at “The Office” and turtle trapping with his “sidekicks,” Tom Malatek and Randy Zbanek.
