Kathleen L. Wetherell, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan
Nienhaus. Burial: 2 p.m. at the North English Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church Tuesday after 10 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Kathleen is survived by a sister-in-law, Marjorie Wetherell of Rock Island, Ill.; three nieces, Valerie (Steve) Frels of Bettendorf, Janet (Mike) Anderson of Flushing, Mich., and Mary Naab of Morton, Ill.; two nephews, Gary Wetherell and John Wetherell, both of Rock Island, Ill.; four great-nephews; three great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; three great-great-nieces; several cousins; and a special cousin, Beverly (David) Dunlavy of Decorah, her children, James McMann of Omaha, Neb., and Kathryn (Joe) McPherson of St. Michael, Minn., and their children, Morgan and Brady.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald.
Kathleen was born Aug. 3, 1929, near Parnell, the daughter of Gayle Harlan and Helena Agnes Griffin Wetherell. She retired as an office manager in 1993 after 43 years at the office of Dr, John Downing and Dr. James Reinertson of the Cedar Rapids Pediatric Clinic.
Kathleen lived a life always putting others first. She enjoyed baking and making candy, especially her outstanding English Toffee and Goggy's Goodies, which she enjoyed sharing with neighbors, relatives and friends.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
