Earl L. Johnson, 86, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, following a sudden illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Cosgrove, with Father Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at St. Peter's Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Cemetery.
Earl was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Hardin Township, Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Ella Moynihan Johnson. He was a graduate of Cosgrove High School.
Earl farmed in Johnson County his whole life.
Earl was a member of St. Peter's Church and had served on the cemetery committee. He had been involved in 4-H.
Earl is survived by his two brothers, Donald (Darlene) Johnson and Patrick (Mina Lea) Johnson, both of Oxford; eight nieces and nephews, Barb Taylor, Craig Johnson (Janis Haunstein), Kris (Phil) Austin, Ann (Bob) Wood, Keith Johnson (Stienie Laubscher), Gerard (Rachel) Johnson, Joan (Kevin) Vondracek and Gary (Lisa) Johnson; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents.
