Pacha, Margaret C.
Margaret C. Pacha of Iowa City passed away Feb. 14, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City. The Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez will officiate. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, where a parish rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.
Born Aug. 13, 1918, she was the daughter of Bernard J. Pauly and Caroline Conrad Pauly. She attended Catholic schools in Harper. On Feb. 8, 1939, she married Leonard J. Pacha.
Margaret worked at Children's Hospital at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and later at Mercy Iowa City, where she was director of housekeeping for 18 years.
She was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church in Iowa City. A 56-year member of St. Patrick Church, Margaret belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed working with flowers, playing cards, needlework, dancing and fishing.
Margaret is survived by her 10 children and their spouses, Ronald L. and wife Janice of Bloomington, Ill., Larry and wife Cathy of Oxford, Gary and wife Nancy of Iowa City, Linda Kay and husband Keith Farmer of Iowa City, Ted and wife Debra of Iowa City, Margaret Ann and husband James Ward of Iowa City, Mary Jane and husband Lee Bullard of Lancaster, Texas, Michael and wife Mary Beth of Iowa City, Cynthia Sue and husband Gary Schmidt of Johnston and Matthew and wife Elaine of Iowa City. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1970; her parents, Bernard and Caroline Pauly; twin sisters, Genevieve and Gwendoline Moeller; sisters, Agatha Mehmert and Eulalia Zumdome; and brothers, Bernard R. Pauly and Herbert Pauly.
The family kindly requests that instead of flowers, memorials be directed to The Regina Foundation.
