Gary D. Udell, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died at Mercy Medical Center on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, from a sudden onset of cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax. A vigil service will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Friends also may visit with the family Tuesday after 9 a.m. at the church.
Gary is survived by his wife, Margaret; four children, James M. (Julene) Udell of Atkins, Steven J. Udell of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl L. (Gary) DuCharme of Vinton and Kristin M. (Chad) Pudil of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; honorary granddaughter, Esther Toth; and sister, Gloria Goodwin of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Gary was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Sioux City, the son of William and Edith Udell. He married Margaret Condron on Jan. 7, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City.
Gary's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for proving there are angels among us.
