PHILIP SLINGLUFF
Hiawatha
Philip Slingluff joined his mother and father in Heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017. To celebrate Phil's life, a visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom in Cedar Rapids. Services will be on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m.
at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids.
Phil was born July 12, 1953, the son of Jack and Mary (Rauenbuehler) Slingluff. Phil was a firefighter for 35 years; using his knowledge from being a firefighter, he used those skills to teach at Kirkwood. Phil loved football, especially the Hawkeyes, and enjoyed his aquarium and flowers.
Phil and his wife, Karen, loved to travel. They would spend their time traveling to Las Vegas or on fishing trips.
Phil was a kind, giving man, and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
Left to cherish Phil's memories are his wife, Karen; two stepdaughters, Holly (John) Kamberling and Amber (Shawn) Ross; four stepgrandchildren, Dylon Secora, Rosa Cook, John Cook Jr. and Braxton Kamberling; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
A special thanks to UnityPoint Hospice and his nurse, Robin Dale, for being so kind to Phil in the weeks preceding his death. Additional thanks to his best friend, Mike Kach, for helping to get Phil to all of his appointments.
A memorial fund has been established in Phil's honor.
