CEDAR RAPIDS - The public is invited to provide input on several area transit, trail or road projects scheduled for the coming years.
The Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization hosts an open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at NewBo City Market, 1100 Third St. SE, Cedar Rapids.
No formal presentation is planned, but officials aim to highlight transportation projects set to receive federal funding from the MPO in 2018 through 2021.
Proposed projects include bus stop improvements in Marion, Tower Terrace Road improvements, pavement on a portion of Edgewood Road Trail, a Highway 100 Trail bridge over the Cedar River and several other trail and roads projects.
Hilary Hershner, a transportation planner with Corridor MPO, said in a news release that public comment is important to the implementation of projects.
'We want to build a system that works for you, not just what works on paper,” Hershner said in the release.
Corridor MPO officials also will be conducting a survey for willing participants at the meeting. The survey is available online at surveymonkey.com/r/P8TZ6FV. Participants of the open house or online survey can be entered into a drawing for a $20 NewBo gift certificate.
The survey closes at midnight June 8.
