Mildred A. Walters, 84, of rural Tiffin, passed away at home surrounded by her family Tuesday evening, Sept. 22, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service
in Iowa City, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Mildred Walters Memorial Fund.

Mildred A. Moffitt was born Oct. 31, 1930, on her family's farm near North English, Iowa, daughter of William and Bessie (Simmons) Moffitt. She graduated from English Valley High School in 1949, and on Aug. 20, 1950, married Melvin M. Walters. In 1963, they built their home in rural Tiffin, where together they raised their five children.
She worked for many years at Drug Fair/ People's Drug in Coralville until her retirement in the early 1990s.
Family was at the center of Mildred's life. Her family includes her children, Janice Lasky (Dick) of Montana, James Walters (Deb) of Coralville, Diane Nelson (Wayne) of Montana, Beverly Vermace of Lisbon and Barbara Searl of Cedar Rapids; sister, Velda Schauf of Wellman; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Walters of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren, Brandon Walters, Emily (Lasky) and Shane Bachuss, Jenny (Lasky) Toren, Sarah (Lasky) Ridders, Bobbie O'Brien, JD (Dawn) Walters, Justin (Amanda Kaye) Vermace, Tyler Vermace, Cody (Samantha) Searl and Brielle Searl; 18 great-grandchildren; and her loyal companion, Queenie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 2012, her parents, four brothers and seven sisters.
