Hammond, Galbraith, Oetting earn top MVC tennis honors

Cedar Rapids Washington senior Katie Hammond was named the Mississippi Valley Conference girls' tennis player of the year in the Mississippi Division today.
Washington's Dan Reyner is coach of the year.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy's Riley Galbraith and Iowa City West's Blake Oetting - both seniors - took top honors in boys' tennis in the MVC, Galbraith in the Mississippi Division and Oetting in the Valley.
Linn-Mar's Chris Wundram and West's Mitch Gross are coaches of the year.
Hammond was joined on the Mississippi's first team by Katie Rakers and Jenna Myers of Linn-Mar, Sara Lasecki of Kennedy, Kristin King of Washington and City High freshman Eve Small. Iowa City West's Addy Riley, Olivia Lofgren and Elena Wilson earned first-team all-Valley honors, along with Laura Birky of Xavier.
Linn-Mar's Brady Anderson and Tyler McCann earned first-team Mississippi honors on the boys' team, along with Mitch Blades and Mitch Anderson of Washington and Galbraith. Oetting was joined on the Valley team by teammates Kyle Appel and Adam Boldt.
